Chapter Twenty-six

“The story refers to a being from Andromeda capable of mind control,” Dr. Sweesy told his wife, Divinity. “I’m not sure how he knows so much about the case. We haven’t released that information yet.”

“Well, go see this author,” Divinity began as she raised a fork with lettuce to her lips and paused for a moment. “I forget his name, but that’s not important. Go see him tomorrow, and I’m sure you can clear it all up.” Dr. Sweesy was seated with his wife and two children at the dinner table. He had one daughter that was fifteen years old and one son that was ten years old. His wife was a five-foot-seven-inch black woman. Dr. Sweesy was about five feet ten inches and white. So their children’s skin color was lighter than their mother’s but also darker than their father’s.

“Rick Lovecraft,” Dr. Sweesy told his wife.

“Excuse me?” She raised an eyebrow at him.

“The author’s name was Rick Lovecraft,” he repeated.

“Oh, yes. Thank you, dear.”

“Do you think that Rick Lovecraft is the murderer?” Sweesy’s ten-year-old son, Max, asked him.

Sweesy laughed heartily, “No. No, son. I examined Peter’s body thoroughly. It was most certainly a suicide. It is simply interesting. I need to talk with Mr. Lovecraft to understand where he got that information from. That is all.”

“But if he wanted to die, why didn’t he go to the hospital and ask them to do it, Daddy?” Sweesy’s daughter, Sherry, interrogated. Assisted suicide was very common and perfectly legal, so it really was a very good question.

“That’s a good question, sweetheart,” Dr. Sweesy explained. “But I think that Peter was very troubled, and he didn’t want anyone to know. Besides, there are other things that I haven’t told you about because you are too young to understand them. That’s enough questions for now. Time to go to bed.”

“Ohhhhh!” Max protested. “I wanted to stay up a little longer to watch a new movie that we bought today. It’s called ‘Dragon Savior.’ It’s about a good dragon that wants to save people and help them, but everyone is too afraid to let it help them. So, people try to kill it when all it wants to do is help.”

“You can watch it tomorrow,” Andrew told his son. “Right now, you have to go to bed - both of you. And don’t forget to brush your teeth.”

“We won’t,” Sherry replied as the two of them walked towards their bedrooms.

“So, there are things that you aren’t telling us,” Divinity said in a sexy tone. “What would these things be?” She moved in close with her lips only a centimeter away from Sweesy’s lips and her hands groping his chest.

“It is just details about Peter’s life. Young children may not understand all those things.”

“Ah. I see. Well, that makes sense. I thought there might have been some other juicy detail that you weren’t telling me either.” At that moment, Dr. Sweesy felt a jerk in his heart. He wanted to tell his wife about the incident in the hospital.
